"It’s that intangible thing we call style. It’s that metaphysical thing that musicians call touch. You can’t teach it because it’s in your body. I call it 'Visual Signature' and it is the sum of everything this photographer does and knows. I bring every bit of it to the photographic task at hand everyday. It’s adaptable. It’s reliable. It’s fun. It tells a version of the truth based on living evidence. It evolves and changes with each assignment. It’s always there regardless of what gear I use or software I run.
I can safely say I am a 20th century photographer with 21st century tools. That’s good for clients because I bring a perspective and evolved photographic chops that interpret, illustrate and tell the story of your brand."

New York City-based Photographer Ellen McDermott and creative partner Bridget Sciales create imagery that instantly provokes the viewer into a time and space which is both intimate and visceral. Through refined lighting and composition, products become objects of desire which immerses the viewer immediately.
Still life takes the viewer into a studied construct created by the photographer—it offers a way to understand content. When focusing on objects arranged on a surface, instinctively it is compartmentalised into a composition understood by the viewer. Photography’s intent is to structure space in a form that is both understandable and organised. When done successfully, a sense of order along with an acute awareness of form and content materialises.
The challenge of photographing white on white has always persisted within the creative field. Holding the whites on a page creates a visual intensity and pulse which is achieved through careful study and technique.
The work can be seen in ad campaigns, digital content, magazines, books, corporate assignments and private collections throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

"For over 30 years, I’ve been based in the Greater Philadelphia area, working comfortably both on location and in studio settings. Whether it’s a one-on-one portrait or a large-scale production, I bring enthusiasm and experience to every shoot. I love the collaborative nature of commercial and editorial photography and have been fortunate to work with many talented designers, art directors and editors — all of whom have helped shape my craft.
Portrait photography is about visual storytelling. Learning about the person — who they are, what matters to them, their environment — is central to my approach. I see photography as a conversation, both with and about the subject.
I’ve long been drawn to the work of Andrew Wyeth. A childhood book featuring Wind from the Sea left a lasting impression with its muted tones and haunting sense of longing. Photographing the Wyeth family and visiting their studios has been a profound experience.
A long-term project has involved working with Indigenous communities across the North and Southwest — work that has deeply enriched my life. I’m committed, collaborative and focused — and would welcome the chance to work with you."

When he’s not behind the camera or traveling, Patrick can usually be found listening to his son enthusiastically explain something he saw on YouTube, playing the banjo, or accumulating cats—most of whom are rather indifferent to his banjo playing.
