New York City-based Photographer Ellen McDermott and creative partner Bridget Sciales create imagery that instantly provokes the viewer into a time and space which is both intimate and visceral. Through refined lighting and composition, products become objects of desire which immerses the viewer immediately. 

Still life takes the viewer into a studied construct created by the photographer—it offers a way to understand content. When focusing on objects arranged on a surface, instinctively it is compartmentalised into a composition understood by the viewer. Photography’s intent is to structure space in a form that is both understandable and organised. When done successfully, a sense of order along with an acute awareness of form and content materialises.  

The challenge of photographing white on white has always persisted within the creative field. Holding the whites on a page creates a visual intensity and pulse which is achieved through careful study and technique.
